The result of honey bee activity on thyme flowers is delicious honey with many medicinal properties. The main role of medicinal properties of thyme plant is due to the presence of phenolic compounds in its essential oil, including thymol and carvacrol. Since honey with a high predominance of thyme nectar has effective amounts of these phenolic compounds, it can be said that thyme honey has special properties in addition to the general properties of honey. The most important medicinal properties of thyme honey are body strengthening, anti-bloating, expectorant, strong anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, appetizing and useful for colds.
